Pinecrest took shape as a lower-scale residential village along Miami-Dade's southern corridor, with larger lots and extensive landscaping defining much of its urban form. Pinecrest Gardens occupies the former Parrot Jungle site, where the attraction opened in 1936. The gardens also host a farmers market; check its calendar for current dates. Old Cutler Road and the US-1 corridor organize access, services and dining.
